A Table in the Sun

We have all heard the expression - you eat with your eyes first....

Well, we will be up early on 27th November ensuring you arrive to the CJC Fete to a feast of colour.
Rows and rows of trestle tables adorned with colourful cottons will invite you to stay for a while and soak up the November sun. There will also be lots of umbrellas to hide under if the weather is a little warm for you. Remember too to bring a hat, and some sunscreen.

Thank you to Spotlight www.spotlight.com.au for their kind donation towards the aesthetics of our event. I am sure it will not go unnoticed.

Giant slide

Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum... a giant slide can be lots of fun.
Aimed ideally at the children, there seems no reason we can't all have a ride on the giant slide.
The poetry may stop right here, but the rides certainly won't, with the option to buy a wrist band to give your child unlimited rides all day at the Fete. Avoid the question ... "Can I go on that, can I ride on this?" and let them indulge in a day of fun while you enjoy catching up with your CJC community over a crepe, a coffee, pastry, sausage..... oh and lots more, but I think that's enough for one post, don't you? There needs to be an element of mystery..........

Trees Adventure Belgrave

Trees Adventure is a new, exhilarating eco-adventure in the Dandenongs. It comprises five tree-top obstacle and flying fox courses that weave through the sublime canopy of Glen Harrow heritage gardens.
Soar through the forest on an array of flying foxes and take on a series of thrilling challenges. Adventurers move between platforms between 2 and 12 metres in height, across a series of imaginative obstacles. There are easy courses for those scared of heights to ‘black runs’ for thrill seekers. Each participant will be fully equipped and trained. The obstacle course provides an opportunity to be daring but also requires participants to take responsibility in a controlled environment, which builds capability and ultimately self-confidence.
Trees Adventure is owned by past CJC family Marc Flaster and Babeth Conil who are now living back in Paris. The Park is now run by Nicolas, our very own Angelique from LA 11's husband. Trees Adventure have kindly donated 3 vouchers, each voucher admits one child and one adult into the park. These vouchers will be up for grabs at this year's Fete.
If you would like to know more about the Trees Adventure park be sure to go to www.treesadventure.com.au. It's an amazing day out, amongst the trees, enjoying the best of the Dandenongs.

Fairy Floss

The history of fairy floss seems to date back to the 1900's when it was originally known as cotton candy. By 1904 a confectioner by the name of William Morrison had created a machine to spin the sugar, which he introduced to the World Fair and the wide audience it attracted, and called it Fairy Floss. He successfully sold 68,655 boxes at the then very high price of 25 cents (admission to the fair itself was 50 cents).
At the CJC fete, perhaps we won't reach the numbers purchased at the 1904 World Fair but we'll have a good go at it, won't we....

Grazie Mille Lamborghini

Long black, cafe latte, macchiato, espresso, cappuccino, short black, skinny flat soy latte with chocolate on top... yes, we all have our favorites, and ours is Lamborghini.
Lamborghini are up to the job to see that all caffeine fixes are contained at this year's fete, as they say, " suited to the most discerning coffee connoisseurs".
So if it's a cafe latte before lunch or an espresso after, it's Tonino Lamborghini, traditional Italian coffee-making expertise. Only the best for the best.

Hard at work

The fete committee girls (well, some of us) managed to find time on Saturday to do a little fete research by visiting the Elwood Primary market held once a month. It was a glorious Spring day to be fossicking through bric-a-brac, sampling pastries and coffees, and overall enjoying ourselves, with children in toe also.
( L-R Claire Cau-Cecile, Louise Ryan, Janey Rainey and Anna Light... and Camille and Celeste from Grade 6 sneaking into the picture also)

Jams, Preserves, Spreads and Sauces

Lemon butter on hot toast, yummy, home made strawberry jam on a fresh croissant, tres bon, mint jelly with a lamb roast, delicious. No one can argue that home-made condiments are by far the most appealing. Even if they are made by someone other than yourself, there is something comforting in the fact that a little bit of love is in every jar.

Can you help out by making something for our preserves, jams and spreads stall this year? It doesn't have to be more than a couple of jars. A simple act that will really add to the flavour of this year's International Fete.

The Vintage Carousel

Step right up, and step back in time ....... with a ride on our vintage carousel at this year's International Fete at Caulfield Junior College.  Remember when a simple ride on the humble fibreglass horse was thrilling. The colours, the lights, the music, the rush to get the best horse before someone else does ..... Now we all live in the fast lane, take some time on Sunday 27th November to allow yourself some nostalgia. The vintage carousel is one of a number of rides available at this year's Fete through our friends at Wittingslows. Michael from Wittingslows (Amusements Australia) is the third generation to provide outdoor entertainment to Australia for more than 60 years. Keep your eyes peeled on our Fete blog so you can see what other great things are on offer at the Fete this year.
